Living Life Naturally

A Natural Progression

So this is me………or rather it was.

Sadly I have decided that the new EU regulations for all cosmetic manufacturers have made life too difficult for small-scale producers like myself. The time now required to be spent on paperwork far outweighs any benefits, financial or otherwise. It’s not as if I have the resources that Boots, Superdrug or Lush do!

I have taken the painful decision to stop making Skin Kiss products, at least for the time being. I will however continue to blog about my passion which is to live as naturally as I can, with as little impact on our planet as possible.

Wherever I can I use natural products whether it be on my body, in my body, or around my home;

One of my pet hates is air freshener – they always smell so ‘chemical’ to me – and quite frankly if you care to check the ingredients, well, that is exactly what they are – chemical!

This is my home-made version and not a nasty ingredient in sight ๐Ÿ™‚

You’ll need:

A clean, empty spray bottle

1 tablespoon baking soda

2 cups distilled water

10 drops essential oil (my favourites are lavender, sweet orange, geranium or rose)

Measure the baking soda into a bowl and add the essential oil on top.

Using a fork, mix the oil into the baking soda. This will help keep the oil suspended in the water.

Put the baking soda/oil mixture into the spray bottle (a funnel helps) and top off with the distilled water. Label your bottle, shake before use, and breathe happy–and more importantly – safely.

Let me know if you try this for yourself.

Till next time

Lesley xx

  1. Lesley – I am very sorry that the EU has been messing you about with red tape to the point that you are now giving up.It really sucks and is really unfair. I hope somehow you will find a way to get things working again in the future. Thanks for sharing the recipe. Might try it – although I tend to just open windows to let in fresh air ๐Ÿ™‚ Generally I think the best products are those with no or least amount of chemicals in them and which are BUAV approved (hard to come by). Good luck with your future endeavours.

    • We too have all the windows open but as my partner is obsessed with everything smelling wonderful I came up with this to ‘save’ myself!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I am so sorry that you are not continuing but love your blog and will try the air freshener xox

    • Thank you Tracy ๐Ÿ™‚ I will be blogging about all sorts of natural products you can use around the home over the next few weeks. Am doing my best to eliminate chemicals from my life!!

  3. Isn’t it sad that regulations can destroy small business. Lets hope that one day you will be able to resume your passion.

    • It is sad – and to my mind unnecessary- as the industry is already well-regulated. I shall just keep on making for myself for the time being ๐Ÿ™‚
